Im September wird Languagelab.com Kurse für Englisch und Spanisch anbieten, es kostet für ein Semester auch ein paar hunderte Dollar, aber es ist wesentlich billiger als die Sprachschule in realer Welt, meinte der Leiter David Kaskel.
Bis jetzt läuft die Veranstaltungen so, dass die Lehrer und Schüler als Avatar in Second Life treffen und kommunizieren sich mit ein extern VoIP Programm wie zum Beispiel Skype, aber in der Zukunft soll unsere Stimme auch 3D sein:
Voice in Second Life will also be 3-D, meaning that the voices from avatars who are near will sound louder than avatars who are farther away. The system does this by modifying a particular user’s sound stream according to his or her avatar’s position in the world. As a result, each of the thousands of Second Life users in the world at any moment using voice will have a unique audio stream. (via: Technology Review)
